~ French WW2 MAB Model D Semi-auto Pistol 7.65mm ~

The MAB model D was a pistol produced by MAB (Manufacture d'Armes de Bayonne) from 1933 to 1963 (.32 ACP); it was inspired by the Belgian Browning FN pistol 1910/22.The MAB D was intended for police and military use. It was used by the French Army and police before and after World War II. After German forces occupied France in May of 1940, the MAB facility was maintained and the Model D was adopted for use by the Wehrmacht (German army) as an “alternate standard”.

The left hand side of the slide is stamped ‘Pistolet Automatique Cal 7,65 MAB Brevete Modele D”.

The serial number is also stamped on the frame beneath the hammer.

On the right side of the frame the serial number ‘59336’ is stamped just below the slide. A Waffenampt stamp is just about visible on the barrel.

A large “MAB” maker names can be found on either side of the chequered black plastic grips,

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel length is 4 inches (10.1 cm) and the overall length of the pistol is 7 inches (17.7 cm).

It weighs 705 g.

~ Condition ~

The grip on the right side is cracked. The tip of the slide, just before the muzzle, is largely pitted with signs of blackening and wear along the rest of the slide.
