~ Early Union of South Africa Flag ~

The flag (first hoisted on 31 May 1928) was based upon the Van Riebeeck flag or "Prince's Flag" which consists of orange, white, and blue horizontal stripes.

To the centre are three smaller flags: The British Union flag, the flag of the Orange Free State and the Transvaal Vierkleur.

This flag was in use between 1928-1994 (known as the ‘Republic of South Africa’ from 1961).

This particular flag is an early one no later than WW2.

~ Dimensions ~

The flag measures 63.5cm (25 inches) by 99cm (39 inches).

~ Condition ~

The flag has a few light stains & marks and a little fraying to some edges commensurate with age.

Overall the flag is in good condition for its age.
