The scene depicts Britains last built battleship returning home from the Royal Tour of South Africa circa the 11th of May, 1947, with cheering crowds on the Gosport waterfront. Old Portsmouth can be seen in the background.
The painting is signed to the lower right.
It is presented in a glazed frame with a double lined mount and it is ready to hang.
Colin Baxter (born 1963), a former master mariner, is a contemporary respected maritime artist based in Gosport, Hampshire.
