~ Circa 1700 Japanese Tanto ~

The tanto comes with its scabbard and storage box.

Inside the box, there is a very old Japanese newspaper.

The blade is a hira-zukuri with Jizo (Buddha's head) tip hamon and gunome (zigzag) hammon on the edge.
The Hada is itame (wood grain) and the tang is fuganata with a hagari style tip. There is no filing on the tang.
The brown silk bound ray skin grip has two different menuki.

The tanto is in excellent condition.

~ Dimensions ~

The tanto is 34 cm (13.5 inches) in total length with a 24 cm (9.5 inches) blade.
