~ C1900 Dayak (Borneo) Headhunters Sword ~

This particular type is called a Mandau.

It features an effigy of a native wild boar made from the horn of a deer, with a small amount of hair to the tip of the handle.

It also has a piece of smooth fibre woven to the grip.

The blade displays a total of 83 brass dots, with 4 missing, which represents the number of heads taken by the swords owner when participating in headhunting ceremonies.

~ Condition ~

The sword is in very good condition throughout with only an old hairline crack to the bone hilt, located near the base of the blade.

The blade itself is in fine condition, with only slight pitting.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword measures 27.55 inches (70 cm) in total length.

The blade measures 22.44 inches (57 cm) in total length.
