*British, WWII, RAF Sweetheart Brooch, King’s Crown, Enamelled*

A fine WWII RAF sweetheart brooch with enamelled detail, worn proudly on the home front as a token of service and devotion.

A WWII period Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch, finely cast in white metal and decorated with red and blue enamel. The design features the outstretched RAF eagle surmounted by the King’s Crown of George VI, with the letters RAF picked out in blue enamel beneath. Reverse fitted with original pin and clasp fixing. Measuring 5.7cm wide by 2.6cm tall.

Historical Note:
Sweetheart brooches were popular tokens of affection given by serving airmen to wives, mothers, or sweethearts during WWII. They were worn at home as a visible symbol of pride and connection to a loved one in service. The King’s Crown design places this brooch between 1936 and 1952, with the style being most widely produced during the height of the Second World War (1939–45). Enamelled examples such as this were more decorative than plain brass or white-metal issues, and were often purchased privately or through jewellers.

*Condition*
The brooch remains in good original condition, with age-related tarnish and patina to the metal surface. The enamel retains much of its original colour, though some wear and loss is visible, particularly to the crown and RAF lettering. Pin and clasp remain intact and functional. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
