*British, WWII, Four Medal Group to Mr F. E. Lumbard of Middlesex, in Original MOD Box: 1939–45 Star, Italy Star, Defence & War Medals*
A fine and complete Second World War medal group awarded to Mr F. E. Lumbard of 34 Brigham Crescent, Ruislip Manor, Middlesex. The group comprises the 1939–45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, and War Medal 1939–45, all with original ribbons. Significantly, the medals are accompanied by their original named O.H.M.S. (On His Majesty’s Service) issue box, addressed by hand, and still retaining its protective internal paper.
The inclusion of the Italy Star indicates operational service in the Italian campaign, which took place between 1943 and 1945 and involved intense fighting in difficult mountainous terrain. The combination of the Defence Medal and the War Medal suggests both home defence or non-operational service in the UK and overseas war service.
Such original boxed groups are increasingly scarce, particularly when they remain completely as issued and tied to a specific address.
*Condition*
All medals are in very good original condition, showing minor age-related toning to the bronze stars and light surface marks to the silver medals, consistent with careful storage. The ribbons remain bright and clean. The original card box is in good condition with typical minor edge wear and small tears, and it retains clear handwritten address details to Mr F. E. Lumbard, as well as the official “PAID” crown stamp. The protective internal tissue is also present. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
