*British, WW2-1943, Inglis Bren Mk II Light Machine Gun, Old Spec Deactivation, with Spare Barrel & Accessories*

A highly desirable Second World War Bren Mk II light machine gun, manufactured in Canada by Inglis, Toronto, and dated 1943. This example represents classic mid-war Commonwealth production and is offered in old specification deactivated condition, retaining its correct external form, moving components appropriate to the deactivation standard, and strong original character throughout.

The receiver is crisply marked “BREN MK II” with “INGLIS 1943”, confirming Canadian wartime manufacture under British War Department contract. Serial number 7T.7264 is clearly stamped on the back of the breech. Barrel marked 7T.3438. The gun retains its correct wooden buttstock, wooden pistol grip, and wooden carrying handle, all displaying attractive, untouched service patina.

The weapon is fitted with the correct Mk II simplified rear sight, featuring vertical screw elevation adjustment and clearly legible range graduations, together with its original folding bipod, correct flash eliminator, and front sight assembly. The overall configuration is entirely consistent with 1943 Inglis Bren Mk II production.

Approx. Measurements: Overall length: approx. 115 cm. Barrel length: approx. 63 cm.

Accessories:
- Spare barrel, serial numbered 53875, a correct wartime replacement barrel, housed in its original WWII-dated barrel bag.
- Barrel bag clearly marked “R.M.B. Ltd 1943” with Broad Arrow acceptance mark.
- Original Bren gun canvas bag, showing honest wartime wear.
- Mk II 30-round magazine, marked “MK II” and “JT” with Broad Arrow, attributable to Joseph Turner & Co. Ltd, a known wartime magazine manufacturer.

The gun displays numerous Broad Arrow / War Department acceptance marks across the receiver and components, along with Canadian inspection markings consistent with Inglis manufacture. Internal machining marks remain visible, and there is no evidence of post-war refinishing or cosmetic restoration.

Historical Note:
The Bren Mk II was introduced to simplify and accelerate production during the height of the Second World War, omitting certain refinements of the earlier Mk I while retaining the Bren’s legendary reliability and accuracy. Canadian-produced Inglis Brens formed a vital part of Commonwealth small-arms supply from 1941 onward and were widely issued to British, Canadian, and Allied forces across all theatres of the war.

Dated 1943, this example represents mature wartime production, combining simplified features with robust construction, and remains one of the most iconic light machine guns of the 20th century.

*Condition*
In very good service-used condition. Cocks and dry-fires. The metalwork retains an even, honest patina with scattered oxidation consistent with age and military use. No signs of polishing, grinding, or refinishing are present. The wood furniture shows expected handling marks, dents, and wear but remains structurally sound with good fit throughout. The accessories display correct period wear and remain complete and serviceable. Overall, a well-preserved and highly authentic example. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
