~ British WW1 Centre Cast No.5 Mills Bomb ~

"Mills bomb" is the popular name for a series of British hand grenades which were designed by William Mills. They were the first modern fragmentation grenades used by the British Army and saw widespread use in the First and Second World Wars. This is a rare example of the No. 5 Grenade introduced in 1915, this particular example is dated March 1916 and is of the rare center cast design. The Base plug and spoon can be removed easily.

The Grenade is 4 inches long and 2.5 inches wide.

The Grenade is in excellent condition with some light patina.
