History Note
The Warwickshire Yeomanry was originally raised in 1794 as a volunteer cavalry regiment and served in numerous campaigns including the Boer War, both World Wars, and later as part of the Territorial Army. The regiment adopted the Bear and Ragged Staff, the historic badge of the Earls of Warwick, as its principal insignia, and this device remained in use on cap badges and collar badges throughout the 20th century.
Staybrite and anodised insignia began to replace earlier brass badges after the Second World War, providing a brighter, low-maintenance finish suitable for modern service dress uniforms.
