A nice example of a British postwar 1947 Dated Pocket Jack Knife. Bakelite grips with a 62mm steel blade, can opener and marlinspike. Marked on the ricasso with the War Department broad arrow with “1947, HM Slater”.

British Royal Navy Knife, often referred to as the Jack Knife or Sailor's Knife. This knife was used by sailors for various tasks aboard ships. It typically features a folding marlinspike, a primary blade, and a shackle opener. The marlinspike is used for rope work, splicing, and knotting tasks, while the shackle opener is used for opening and closing metal shackles. The clasp knife, was made in Sheffield, England, and this type of knife with this particular handle material was a standard issue for soldiers in the British Army from the late 1930s until the early 1950s.
