*British, Henry Krank (Pudsey) Blank-Firing Replica Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver, Inert*
A good quality blank-firing replica revolver styled after the classic Colt Model 1851 Navy, bearing the retailer/importer stamp “HENRY KRANK PUDSEY” to the top flat of the octagonal barrel.
The revolver follows the familiar 1851 Navy form with octagonal barrel, brass trigger guard and backstrap, case-coloured frame finish, and two-piece wooden grips. The mechanism operates in the correct single-action manner, holding at half-cock and fully cocking before releasing to dry-fire. As typical for many blank-firing replicas of this type, the loading lever is present for visual authenticity but is non-functional. Overall, it is a convincing display and reenactment piece closely modelled on the mid-19th-century percussion original.
Approx. Measurements – Blade length: N/A. Barrel length: 18.5 cm. Overall length: 33.5 cm.
Historical Note:
Henry Krank & Co., based in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, are one of the UK’s best-known specialist dealers in muzzle-loading and historic-style firearms equipment. From the later 20th century onward they imported and retailed a range of Italian-made reproduction and blank-firing revolvers—often from makers such as Pietta or Uberti—stamped with the “Henry Krank Pudsey” mark to denote retail supply.
These replicas were produced primarily for collectors, theatrical use, and historical reenactment, faithfully reproducing the appearance and manual operation of famous American Civil War-era sidearms such as the Colt 1851 Navy, while incorporating internal modifications (including barrel obstruction and simplified loading-lever assemblies) to ensure they function only with blank cartridges.
*Condition*
Mechanically the revolver holds on half-cock, cocks, and dry-fires correctly. The loading lever does not operate, consistent with many blank-firing replicas where the lever is cosmetic or lacks internal linkage. Metal surfaces show light handling marks and areas of finish wear, with attractive colour remaining to the frame and a mellow patina to the brass furniture. The wooden grips are sound with minor age-related marks. The barrel interior shows the expected blank-firing obstruction. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
