*British, c.1990s, RMS Queen Mary Propeller Relic Medallion, with Certificate of Authenticity and Case*

A souvenir medallion cast from metal originating from one of the RMS Queen Mary’s original propellers, accompanied by its presentation case and the original Certificate of Authenticity issued by The RMS Queen Mary Propeller Co., Southampton. The oval medallion, measuring approximately 5 cm in length including suspension loop and 3.9 cm wide, shows a raised depiction of the great liner on the obverse with the legend RMS QUEEN MARY. The reverse displays a four-bladed propeller motif and the inscription THIS METAL ORIGINATES FROM THE SHIP’S PROPELLER and 1002 ATLANTIC CROSSINGS.

The certificate explains that metal from the liner’s scrapped propeller was melted at 980°C, refined, and blended with additional alloys to allow the casting of these commemorative pieces. It also provides background on the origins of the Cunard Line and the historic significance of the Queen Mary—the most celebrated of Cunard’s transatlantic ships and now a permanently preserved monument of British maritime achievement.

Historical Note:
The RMS Queen Mary, launched in 1934, completed an extraordinary 1,002 Atlantic crossings during her career. After serving both as a luxury liner and as a troopship during the Second World War, she became one of the most iconic vessels ever built by Cunard. Propeller-relic items such as this were produced only after the removal and melting of the ship’s original propeller metal—an opportunity that cannot be repeated.

*Condition*
The medallion shows the expected mellowed patina from age and handling, with no damage and good definition to the relief design. Certificate lightly handled but clean; presentation case in very good condition. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
