*British, 1st Royal Tank Regiment Wall Plaque, Wooden Mount, Regimental Crest*

A well-made Royal Tank Regiment presentation or souvenir wall plaque, featuring the regimental badge of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment mounted on a shield-shaped hardwood backboard. The central device shows the classic RTR motif: a First World War–era Mk I tank within a laurel wreath, surmounted by the King’s Crown to the left, and the regimental motto Fear Naught on a scroll to the right. The background is painted in the regiment’s distinctive colours—green, red, and brown—set within a moulded, gilded edging.

The wooden mount measures approximately 14.6 cm wide by 17.6 cm tall and has a brass recessed hanging fitting stamped “Made in Britain” on the reverse.

Historical Note:
The 1st Royal Tank Regiment traces its origins to 1916 and the birth of armoured warfare on the Western Front. As part of the original Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps, its history is tied directly to the world’s first tanks, reflected in the badge’s unmistakable Mk I silhouette. Through the Second World War, the Cold War, and into the modern era, 1 RTR remained one of the British Army’s most prestigious armoured regiments until its amalgamation with 2 RTR in 2014 to form the Royal Tank Regiment.

*Condition*
The plaque is in good overall condition with bright, clean colours to the crest. The wooden mount shows light surface scratches and a small area of wear to the reverse, consistent with age and display. The brass hanging plate remains firmly set. No cracks or structural issues. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
