This is a Georgian naval fighting dirk from around the late 18th Century around the period of the French revolutionary wars. These daggers would have been used during famous conflicts such as the Battle of the Nile. The dirk features a fouled anchor and crown on the grip medallion, a pillow pommel and a curved crossguard with the maker’s initials “FT” on for Francis Thurkle. It has a double-edged blade with a central fuller and a reeded ivory grip. This is an excellent item from a extremely significant period of history!

*Condition*

This dirk is in good condition for its age and use. The blade is uniformly pitted with no other signs of damage. The parts comprising the hilt are slightly loose, though the grip remains strong and intact. Please see pictures for more detail.
