*British, 1948 ND, British Armed Forces 5 Shilling Note, 2nd Series, Fine condition*

A British Armed Forces Special Voucher (BAFSV) of Five Shillings, 2nd Series, printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, London. Produced on lightly toned off-white paper with intricate blue and orange guilloché work, the design features FIVE SHILLINGS within a central medallion, denomination 5/- to each corner, and serial number CC 749159 in red. Issued by command of the Army Council for controlled military-use transactions only.

Historical Note
These vouchers were issued for use by British service personnel in occupied areas after the Second World War, particularly Germany and Austria. The scheme was introduced to curb black-market currency trading by ensuring that troops used regulated military tender rather than local cash. The first series entered circulation on 1 August 1946 but was soon compromised, prompting the introduction of a redesigned second series in mid-1947 with improved anti-fraud measures. The present example is a 1948 ND (no-date) issue from that second series, part of the improved post-war print run by Thomas De La Rue.

*Condition*
Fine overall. Paper remains sound with no tears or edge losses. Horizontal and vertical folds present; light handling marks and mild toning consistent with circulation. Colours remain strong, with clear detail to all printed elements. Serial number bright and legible. Reverse clean with only modest age-related wear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
