Here we have one of the iconic swords of the Napoleonic conflict, the 1796 light cavalry sabre, a curved weapon of incredible effectiveness and terror. These blades are heavily curved slashing weapons with a hatchet point originally pioneered by the Hungarians and then adopted by most of the Napoleonic world.

This sword is unmarked but of absolutely incredible quality. The blueing goes two thirds up the blade with incredibly detailed gilt work depicting the Kings Crown, a Light Cavalry man and arabesque martial symbols. This is also one of the best feeling sabres in had I have had in a while.

These blued and gilt swords were expensive and highly sought after officers weapons that were signs of authority and wealth, status symbols and weapons as befitted Britain’s Officers at the height of Britain's military power.

This sword has nearly 100% plus of its blueing remaining and is in near perfect condition for its age.
