The sword comes from an old London pub called “The British Grenadier Tavern” which was demolished some years ago.

We’ve managed lately to source a number of these Waterloo finds that were displayed in the old pubs and have been sold to locals after the building was put to the ground.

The sword was displayed on a wooden plaque with the inscription “Found on the field of Waterloo 18th June 1818”.

The sword is a 1796 British infantry pattern with a single edged blade, brass guard and pommel and copper wired grip.

There are no marks or stamps on the blade.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 31 ½ inches (80 cm) long blade and the overall length of the sword is 38 inches (96.5 cm).

The plaque is 38 inches (96.5 cm) long by 5 ¾ inches (14.5 cm) wide.

The piece weighs 2.05 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The sword remains in good condition for its age.

The blade has some nicks on its upper section and some surface rust. Part of the original blue is still visible.

The brass guard and grip have the expected usage marks, scratches and some nicks.

The wooden plaque remains in good condition.
