~ A 19th Century African Tribal Fighting Axe with a Hardwood Shaft ~

The steel angular blade is thick and substantial unlike some of the dance or ornamental axes used at the same period. The blade is hammered into the top of long wooden shaft.

~ Dimensions ~

The shaft has a length of 27 inches (68.cm). The blade has a length of 6.3 inches (16cm), and a width of 4.5 inches (11.5cm).

~ Condition ~

The wooden shaft is intact, with only small amounts of scratches and a small split just below the blade. The blade is pitted, with a small patch of rust on the edge of both sides.
