~ 4th Queens Own Hussars Regimental Banner In Presentation Case ~

A regimental banner of the 4th (IVth) Queen's Own Hussars in custom built presentation case.

The banner is post WW1, possibly Second World War era.

The 4th Queen's Own Hussars was a cavalry regiment in the British Army, first raised in 1685. It saw service for three centuries,
including the First World War and the Second World War.

It amalgamated with the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars, to form the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars in 1958.

The banner is of dark green, (almost black in appearance) velvet, trimmed with gold braid and embroidered with the Regimental badge.

The badge consists of the Roman numerals 'IV' (for 4) with the regiments motto 'Mente Et Manu' (By Mind and Hand) below
surrounded by a wreath with the Kings crown atop. The wreath contains place names and dates associated with the regiment; battle
sites etc., which include WW1 sites.

The banner reads 'Queens Own Hussars' to the lower edge.

The banner is mounted in a custom built glazed wooden case with suspension chain attached. The case has lights fitted inside and
the flex protrudes out the back of the case. It is not fitted with a plug and we do not know if it is in working order*.

~ Dimensions ~

The case measures 59cm (23 inches) by 62cm (24 ½ inches) with a depth of 6.5cm (2 ½ inches).

It weighs 5.88 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The banner appears to be in a lovely condition having been protected by the case.

The case is in good order with little wear and no damage.

* The lights have not been tested. As with all second hand electrical goods, we recommend the purchaser have it electrically tested by
a professional before use – we do not offer this service and the is sold on that basis.
