~ 19th Century Japanese White Metal Silver Casket ~

An exquisite casket, cast in heavy relief with Japanese silver. The top features two birds over bamboo canes, with bamboo canes to the four sides. It rests on four feet. The inside is lined with pink silk. The silver has an applied brown lacquer, giving it a bronze like finish.

It has a Japanese rising sun to the underside.

A high quality example.

~ Condition ~

The piece is in excellent order, free from dents and dings. The lacquer is worn, principally to the lower half.

The casket is 10.5 cm (4.25 inches) wide by 8.5 cm (3.25 inches) deep and 5.5 cm (2.25 inches) tall. It weighs 580 g.
