A lovely carved Japanese Netsuke in the form of a dancing figure.

The carving is of ivory and shows a dancing figure in traditional dress decorated with images of clouds.

There are two holes to the reverse for the threading of a cord.

~ Netsuke ~

A netsuke is a miniature sculpture, originating in 17th century Japan. Initially a simply-carved button fastener on the cords of an inro box, netsuke later developed into ornately sculpted objects of craftsmanship.

The piece stands at 5cm and weighs 15.2g
