19th Century Indian Talwar Sword #2

Out of stock

SKU: JA_224952006 Category: Tags: ,

This is an interesting example of a Talwar sword from the Indian subcontinent.

The piece has a heavily curved steel blade and the distinct Talwar “cross” guard.

The fullered blade has a single edged, steel S shaped guard and indented pommel.

The piece comes with its original rope grip and this splits into two knots.

The blade shows what seems to be an Islamic mark, a half moon and a star.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 32 inches (82 cm) long and the overall length is 38 inches (97 cm).

The piece weighs 1.12 Kg.

~ Condition ~

There is some amount of surface rust and the pitting expected with age on the blade.

The base of the guard is slightly cracked.

The rope shows the signs of wear expected with its age but the item presents well.
