~ 18th Century Oriental Flintlock Pistol ~

A very nice example of a highly ornated flintlock pistol coming from the orient. Most probably the piece is Ottoman or from a nation of the Ottoman empire.

On a closer look, the silver foliage inserts become visible, alongside the very ornate brass elements of the pistol.

The woodwork is exquisitely carved in the same oriental style.

On some of the brass elements can be recognized elements of embossed natural relief and horsemen.

The barrel is secured with wire binding towards the muzzle in the Arab countries style.

The frizzen is of an old design, with embossed ribs, a style that can still be found in the same period used by the Russians, Georgians, or some Eastern-European nations.

~ Condition ~

The pistol half cocks, cocks and releases with a strong spring.

The bore is quite pitted, but this is to be expected for such a piece.

As can be seen in the pictures there are some bits of the silver inlaid wire missing in places or some dents, but, again, this is to be expected for such an old example.

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel length is 32 cm and the overall length of the pistol is 49 cm.
