A lovely 19th century porcelain pedestal bowl with ship motif.
The bowl is of deep circular form in white porcelain.
The exterior is decorated to the front with an oval reserve, hand-painted with a fully rigged British Merchant Navy ship in a bay with large building to the background.
The oval reserve is framed with ornate gilt detailing.
There are horizontal bands of gilding around the circumference of the bowl both top and bottom.
The interior is plain.
There is an incised cross mark to the base.
~ Dimensions ~
The bowl has a diameter of 27cm (10 ½ inches) and a depth of 12.5cm (5 inches).
It weighs 1.49 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The gilding is rather worn in places but the main image is well preserved with little wear.
There are some white paint marks to the interior and a small hairline crack, partially covered by paint.
* The photograph with hand indicates the width of larger paint-mark (as it’s white on white it does not photograph well).
The bowl is otherwise in a nice condition with no chips or damages.
