*18th Century Indian Tulwar Sword*

Plain curving steel blade with a light single fuller to both sides along 3/4 of its length. Iron hilt with extended langets, broken knucklebow grip and spiked pommel - which likely would also have had a disc. This type of hilt is sometimes called the 'Indo-Muslim hilt', or 'standard Indian hilt'.

The tulwar is 84.5 cm (33 inches) in length with a 72 cm (28.25 inches) blade.

The word tulwar originated from the Sanskrit word taravāri which means "one-edged sword". It is the word for sword in several related languages, such as Hindustani (Hindi and Urdu), Nepali, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, etc. and as toloar (talōẏāra) in Bengali.

*Condition*
There are several nicks to the blades edge. The knucklebow grip is broken and the pommel is missing a disc. There is no scabbard. The blade is rusted. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
