~ 18th Century Flintlock Pistol by John Richards ~

A nice early piece, the pistol comes with a large caliber barrel marked 'Strand London' on top and stamped with a pair of proof marks on the left-hand side of the barrel.
The lockplate is named John Richards and some sections of the pistol's metalwork are foliage decorated.
The trigger guard is decorated with a pineapple finial.
The grip is chequered and ends with a metal finial.
The piece is calibre .75

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel length is 9 inches and the overall length of the piece is 15 inches.

~ Condition ~

The wooden stock has a period repair towards the top end of the barrel, where a section of wood has been replaced.
Otherwise, apart from superficial period scratches and nicks, the woodwork is in very good condition.
The action half cocks, cocks and releases with a strong spring.
The metalwork remains clean with a nice patina.
The bore is very clean.
