~ 1889 Pattern British Naval Cutlass By Wilkinson ~

This is an 1889 pattern British Royal Navy cutlass. The 1889 pattern was one of the last patterns of Royal Naval cutlasses to be made. It features a steel bowl hilt with a ringed iron grip. The proof and War Department inspectors’ marks are still visible along with the ‘X’ mark to show it has passed the bending tests. The makers name is faintly visible.

~ Condition ~

The blade is heavily pitted on one side and has some pitting on the reverse. The grip is in very good condition, the binding still tight and the hilt has a few marks. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.

~ Dimensions ~

The cutlass is 83 cm (32.75 inches) in total length with a 69 cm (27.25 inch) blade.
