~ 1870's Socket Bayonet for the Martini-Enfield ~

A 1876 Martini-Henry Socket Bayonet with signs of conversion to fit the later .303 Martini-Enfield rifle.
The bridge to the has been cut to allow for the bayonet to hang below the rifle as opposed to the side.

The bayonet has a black painted finish to the socket. the ricasso is marked with the broad arrow and several inspection marks.

~ Dimensions ~

The bayonet measures 25 inches (64cm). The blade measures 21.5 inches (55cm). The piece weights 500g.

~ Condition ~

The bayonet is in overall good antique condition. The blade has darkened as expected but the surface is overall good with minimal pitting. The socket is complete with its locking ring.
