Early VR 1837 – 40 Staff Shaped Truncheon

The truncheon, made of dark brown hardwood, has a painted dark blue/black background. It is shaped like a staff with a golden ball attached to the top and two golden rings along the body.

The body has been painted gold & red painted decorations, the “V.R.” cipher with the Queen’s crown just below with two wheat leaves crossed.

The handle portion has fine multiple grooves, with a round pommel.

~ Dimensions ~

The staff has a length of 18 inches (45.7 cm). It weighs 285 g.

~ Condition ~

The wood has sustained some typical age wear it remains in mostly good order. Though the paint largely remains visible, a fair amount of the black background has been chipped. The decorations are also scratched/worn, but remain visible.
