~ Victorian Royal Navy 1888 Pattern Boarding Pike #2 ~

A well-preserved example of a Victorian-era Royal Navy boarding pike, dating from the 1888 pattern.

This pike features a long wooden shaft, typical of the period, with an iron spearhead at the top. The spearhead has a leaf-shaped blade, designed for close combat during naval boarding actions.

~ Dimensions ~

The pike measures approximately 2.31 meters in length, with the spearhead measuring around 91 inches.

~ Condition ~

The pike is in good condition for its age, with some wear consistent with its historical use. The wooden shaft shows some signs of aging, including minor surface cracks and patina, while the spearhead has a well-maintained edge with minor pitting. The metal bands are secure, though they exhibit some rust typical of an artifact of this age. Overall, this boarding pike is a fine representation of Victorian naval weaponry.
