Circa 1861/65 American Civil War Confederate Bowie Knife

The knife has a forged blade, twin hook guard and a rosewood handle.

The blade is etched:

"Etowah Iron Works"

which links it to Mark Cooper.

The knife comes attached with two passanger check labels from the "Pullman Company" which was active from 1862.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade has a length of 14 inches (cm), with the knife having an overall length of 20.5 inches (52cm).

~ Condition ~

The blade is blackened, and there is some minor surface wear to the handle, but the knife remains in an otherwise good, complete condition.

The blades edges have been resharpened throughout its extensive use giving both edges a wavey pattern. It is still sharp.
