The well executed painting depicts a busy quayside scene with a two-masted wooden ship with sails furled moored alongside, with figures and other shipping, with the houses of Gos[port (Hampshire) and the church bell-tower beyond. It is signed to the lower left. The painting is oil on lined canvas with an acanthus and scrollwork guesso on wood frame with name plate 'S.A. Galton - Gosport, Hampshire'.

Please refer to the images for the condition. The oil painting is in good order, the frame has several shrinkage cracks to the guesso.
