*Original, German, WWII, M24 Stick Grenade (Stielhandgranate), Dated 1939, Marked ЯR564 by Richard Rinker, Deactivated and Inert*
The German Stick Grenade M1924, M24, or "Stielhandgranate 24," was commonly referred to as the "potato masher". The term "Stielhandgranate" translates to "stick hand grenade", characterized by its extended wooden handle, pull cord arming mechanism, and cylindrical warhead. The Model 1924 proved relatively ineffective on its own for damaging enemy armored vehicles or destroying fortifications, lacking the shrapnel effect seen in many other grenades of its time.
This particular stick grenade still features its original paint, and the base bears the manufacturer marking "ЯR564 1939". While the fuse has been removed, the original porcelain ball and pull cord remain intact. The double R marking, with one reversed, serves as the logo of Richard Rinker G.m.b.H. in Menden/Iserlohn, the exclusive manufacturer authorized by the Treaty of Versailles to produce grenades after World War I.
