The Zuckerman helmet was a British helmet designed for use by civil defence organizations and the general public during World War II. It was researched and designed by Solly Zuckerman, Derman Christopherson and Hugh Cairns.

The label inside the helmet reads “The Chief Constable. Frog lane institute, Wigan, Lancs” and was made by Dyson & Horsfall LTD, Preston” Contractors to HM Ministry of Home Security. It also has been marked with a triangular logo with the letters PSC, for the Pressed Steel Company of Oxford on the inside rim.  The inner rim of the helmet is also stamped with a date code of 2 41 and an L for Large.

*Condition*

The helmet is in great condition considering its age and use. There is some pitting and a few knocks and scratches. The liner is also in great condition and fitted well but the chinstrap has been snapped. For more detail, please see the pictures as these form part of our condition report.
