This is a Bowie knife made by H.G. Long & Co in Sheffield probably in the 19th Century. The blade features a tapered tang and walnut grips. It was carried by a “Bonker” Foreman in Pakenham/Ixworth Home Guard before he joined the Suffolk Reg where he was captured by the Japanese and spent the rest of the 2nd World War on the Burma Railway.

*Condition*

The knife is in great condition for its age and usage. There are a couple of dents to the tang and some light pitting on the blade. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
