A Second World War Soviet Shell Case for the BS3 Field Gun with various markings to base (see images).
6" diameter base, 4.5" diameter neck, 27.5" tall.
The Soviet 100 mm field gun M1944 (BS-3) (100-мм полевая пушка обр. 1944 г. (БС-3)) was designed for both anti-tank and field artillery purposes. Derived from the B-34 naval gun, the BS-3 proved highly effective as an anti-tank gun during the Second World War. It demonstrated the capability to destroy any contemporary tank at long range, with the exception of the Tiger II, for which it required a closer range of less than 1600 meters. The BS-3 remained in active service until the 1950s.
