*WW2, Original Novelty Adolf Hitler Pin Cushion Figure*
An original Second World War–period novelty pin cushion depicting Adolf Hitler in a deliberately satirical and humiliating pose, bent forward with hands between his knees, forming a pin cushion at the rear. Such items were produced as morale-boosting novelties during the war, intended as objects of ridicule rather than reverence.
The figure is solid and heavy, cast in metal alloy and finished with hand-applied enamel paint. It stands on a red-painted circular base with green felt underside and retains its original padded pin cushion insert.
Approx Dimensions: 11.5 cm (4½ inches) tall, 390 g
Historical Note:
Anti-Hitler novelty items such as pin cushions, ashtrays, and desk ornaments were popular in Britain and Allied countries during the Second World War. Designed to mock and demean the Nazi leadership, these pieces were sold for domestic use and sometimes as fundraising or morale items. Their survival rate is relatively low due to heavy use and the disposable nature of wartime novelty objects, making original examples increasingly sought after by collectors of WW2 social history and propaganda material.
*Condition*
Very good overall condition, with light surface wear and paint loss consistent with age and use. The pin cushion remains intact and firmly in place. A very small chip is present to the rear near the cushion area. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
