WW2 inert Italian ‘Red Devil’ 45mm hand mortar bomb with pull ring safety and nose cover. Steel upper body with red painted fin base unscrewing to reveal inner cavity. The markings on the fin suggest 1944.
They earned the “Red Devil” by British forces because of their high volatility during the recovery of unexploded Italian hand grenades on the battlefield.
*Condition*
This inert mortar shell is in good condition though much of the black paintwork on the upper body has gone. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
