An original Second World War German SS 8 year service medal complete with ribbon.

The eight-year service medal was awarded to all Officers, NCOs and enlisted men.

It was instituted on 21st October 1938 and bestowed after 8 years loyal service in the S.S.

The eight-year service medal was manufactured by the firms Petz & Lorenz and Deschler.

The medal is die struck in bronze and is complete with suspension ring and loop.

The obverse of the medal has the swastika with wreath and ‘SS’ symbol to the centre.

The reverse reads: 'FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER SS' ("For Loyal Service in the SS"), over the number ‘8’ and again with the ‘SS’ symbol.

The medal comes with its original ribbon with pin fastening sewn on.

The medal has a diameter of 3.8cm.

It weighs 21g (inc. ribbon).

~ Condition ~

The medal has some wear and a few dings but is overall in a good condition.

The ribbon is in good order with minimal wear.
