WW2 German Section of a Fokker Aircraft 1940

With Europe largely overrun, Hitler turned his attention to Britain. In 1940 Luton suffered its most destructive air raid of World War Two. Fifty-nine people were killed, 140 injured and many more lost their homes in the raid.

The item is part of a Fokker plane. Originally from the Netherlands, the Fokker factories were confiscated by Nazi Germany and used during World War Two.

The piece is of aluminium, painted in matt black paint with part of a swastika in white along one edge.

The metal still retains some of its rivets.

The item was recovered in 1942 in Luton, UK and has been stamped with these details to one edge.

There are some letters/numbers painted on the reverse and the piece is stamped with a serial? no. of ‘61201H8’, though we have no information on the significance of either.

The piece measures 34cm (13 ¼ inches) by 79cm (31 inches).

It weighs 800g.

~ Condition ~

The item is rust affected in places but it presents well.

There is some loss of paint but everything is in good order.
