~ WW2 German Hitler Youth and Flakhelfer Personal Collection ~
A Luftwaffenhelfer, also commonly known as a Flakhelfer, was, strictly speaking, any member of the auxiliary staff of the German Luftwaffe during World War II. Such terms often implied students conscripted as child soldiers.
This folder comprises of two pictures of this lad with his comrades on duty plus a number of army manuals, representing different vehicles, German and allied, that these youngsters suppose to recognise and destroy when they were using their guns on ground support role.
The folder also holds his Prisoner of war discharge papers, having all the details about him.
There are few pages from a army small arms manual instructing them about how to use and field strip the obsolete machine guns they were issued with (MP18 I, MP28, MP34 and MP 38).
There is also a page showing how to organise or recognise different German military transports, columns or vehicles if these young people were asked to help on such a task.
Overall, a priceless collection which we’ve obtained straight from the family.
