An early model 1933-36 NSKK SA Army Dagger (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps Dienstdolch) by C. Remscheid & Co. REMEVE Solingen-Aufderhohe. The Sturmabteilung (SA) was the original paramilitary wing of the Nazi Party (NSDAP), established in 1921 and led by Adolf Hitler and Ernst Rohm. The SA played a crucial role in Hitler's rise to power but was later significantly weakened in 1934 during the "Night of the Long Knives".
The SA dagger were originally produced in vast quantities by 123 different cottage makers. Initially these daggers were made with the highest quality, being produced out of hand-fitted nickel fittings, hardwood grips and brown anodized or "blued" scabbards. The blades were etched, "Alles für Deutschland", or "All for Germany". Pre-1935 SA daggers were stamped with the SA group stamp to the reverse of the lower crossguard. Later examples were RZM marked and used less expensive plated zinc-based fittings with painted scabbards.
The blade displays the acid etched phrase “Alles Für Deutschland” (Everything for Germany) on one side and the makers mark "C. Remscheid & Co. REMEVE Solingen-Aufderhohe" on the obverse. The crossguard is SA Gruppe stamped "Wf" for Westfalen. The grip features the Nazi parteiadler symbol and the SA insignia. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard looks wonderful, holds a beautiful brown finish and retains some of its original factory lacquer!
The dagger has a blade with a length of 21.8cm and a total length of 34.4cm, 36.7cm in scabbard.
*Condition*
This dagger is in excellent condition for an item of its age. The blade and hilt have minimal, minor marks and no significant damage. There is some oxidization spotting on the scabbard. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point Please see pictures for more detail.
