The badge was a German military decoration awarded to radio operators, air gunners and mechanics (flight engineers) who were members of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) after they completed two months training or had taken part in at least five operational flights.

If wounded during an operational flight, the badge could be awarded earlier.

The badge depicts a diving eagle holding a number of lightning bolts. It is surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, swastika to the lower end holding it together. The reverse is stamped for JMME for the makers Berlin firm of IMME, who often written JMME in keeping with the German practice of switching these two letters.

~ Dimensions ~

The badge has a height of 1.9 inches (5 cm) & a width of 1.6 inches (4 cm).
It weighs 29 g.

~ Condition ~

The pin is missing and the hook appears to have been re-soldered. Other than minor age wearing the badge remains in good condition.
