This item was a part of either an Airspeed Horsa glider or a Waco CG-4A glider during the D-Day invasions in World War 2. It was retrieved from Normandy after the war. The first gliders were to arrive in this area in the early hours of June 6, 1944; in two troop carrier Groups. These glider missions were code-named Chicago (434th) and Detroit (437th).
*Condition*
This artefact was taken found after the war and would have come from a crash-landed glider so damage is to be expected. Most of the nuts and bolts are still attached. Please see pictures for more detail.
