*WW2 British No 5. Jungle Carbine Bayonet, Maker Marked WSC. With Original Scabbard*

Rare No5. Mk1 second production bayonet for the No.5. Mk 1 Lee Enfield Carbine. (MK1 early or 1st production run bayonets only had a single screw through the grip). Maker marked WSC for Wilkinson Sword Company, London.

Production of the No.5 bayonet began in March 1944 and finished in December 1947 with Wilkinson Sword Company making 188,354.

The 197mm clip-point bowie blade has a single edge and a longer fuller below the rounded spine. The ricasso is stamped with the WSC mark of the Wilkinson factory. The obverse ricasso bears a broad arrow stamp and a bend test X. The bayonet is complete with its original scabbard. The top is stamped with the factory dispersal code beginning S2.

*Condition*
The wooden grips are in good used condition and are held tightly in place by two screws. The beaked pommel and cross guard are in good condition with age related marks and the press stud is in working order. The blade has some minor rusting and pitting, several small nicks and blunted tip. The bayonet sheaths and draws smoothly and is held firmly, it has a few dings commensurate with a bayonet that's seen a life in service. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
