This is one of the Iconic, British Mills bombs from World War 2. They were the first modern fragmentation grenades used by the British Army and saw widespread use in the First and Second World Wars. The No. 36 Mk. 1 was first introduced in May 1918. It used the No. 23 Mk 3 body with a new-style plug and was mostly made of iron. It was drilled and threaded for attaching a metal disk called a gas check to fire the grenade from a rifle's muzzle and was launched using a ballistite blank cartridge. This particular frag grenade comes with original pieces still attached (please see pictures).
