*WW1, Original, Imperial, Prussian, German, Army Brass Buckle and Leather Belt, 'Gott Mit Uns'. Model 1895*

Imperial German Army uniform belt buckle; brass buckle with a relief of German Imperial crown and laurel leaf branch depicted, embossed text "GOTT MIT UNS" (God is with us). It was worn from 1895 through to 1916 - by enlisted men/NCO's. Buckle measures 6.5cm x 4.6cm. Brown leather belt measures 87.5cm x 4.5cm.

Gott mit uns ('God with us') is a phrase commonly used in heraldry in Prussia (from 1701) and later by the German military during the periods spanning the German Empire (1871–1918), Nazi Germany (1933–1945), and the early years of West Germany (1949–1962).

*Condition*
The belt and buckle are in excellent condition with working clasp. The buckle in excellent condition with minor scratches commensurate with its age. There is some wear and tear to the leather but no cracks or marks of significant concern. The leather has numerous buckle piercings so that the buckle can be moved but also has other holes that suggests that it has been worn with other buckles.
