~ William Moorcroft Florian Ware Chocolate Pot ~

In 1897 Macintyre & Co. Ltd employed William Moorcroft as a designer, and within a year he was put in full charge of the company's art pottery studio as Chief Designer.

Moorcroft's first innovative range of pottery was called Florian Ware,

This chocolate pot is a lovely early example of that range.

The single handed lidded pot is of bulbous form with tube lined floral decoration in pinks on a green ground.

The jug has a cream interior.

The lid is decorated in the same manner.

The base of the pot is marked with the ‘McIntyre Burslem England’ stamp, and is signed by William Moorcroft in green ink.

There is also a registry design number dating the piece to 1900/1901.

There is an incised ‘X’ to the inside of the lid.

~ Dimensions ~

The pot has a diameter of 14cm (5 ½ inches) and a height of 20cm (8 inches).

It weighs 910g

~ Condition ~

There is a hairline crack to the lid but this appears to be from the firing process rather than damage.

The pot itself has a few light marks but is free from damage and overall is in a lovely condition.
