A lovely Egyptian-themed brooch of 14ct gold, enamel and turquoise with two small round-cut diamonds and two small round cabochon rubies, it is most likely to be an Imperial Russian piece.
The turquoise has been carved as a scarab beetle, which is mounted to the centre of the brooch.
The turquoise is flanked by serpent heads decorated in blue enamel and mounted with the rubies.
The diamonds are mounted below in leaf-shaped settings.
The brooch has further enamelling to the ends.
The brooch has a pin bar clasp to the reverse.
The brooch is marked ‘14’ for 14ct gold.
~ Dimensions~
The diamonds measure 0.01 carats (1mm diameter) each.
The rubies measure 0.04 carats (2mm diameter) each.
The brooch has a length of 4cm and weighs 4.5g.
~ Condition ~
The brooch has sustained a little damage, it has lost one of the serpent heads and there is a tiny chip to the turquoise. It is also missing one diamond (there should be three).
Despite these issues, the brooch still presents very well and is in a nice overall pre-owned condition.
